Comp-U-Dopt provides technology access and education to underserved youth
Computer Drive Thru
Availability is dependent upon inventory
Comp-U-Dopt has set up a computer drive-thru for your community members without access to a computer at home. To qualify for a computer you must not own a working computer at home, and you must have a child in K-20 education in the Chicago area.
Here’s how it works:
-
Visit this link https://www.compudopt.org/chicago
-
Click the blue Register for a Lottery Button for the area you live.
-
Names will be chosen randomly based on the available inventory 3-days prior to distribution dates. Registering for the lottery does not guarantee you will receive a computer, but you will remain eligible until your name is chosen at random in the lottery picks.
-
Selected recipients will be notified by text message to complete the RSVP process to pick up their computer at a distribution site. *This is why it is very important you accurately include your cell phone number when prompted*
-
Families arrive at the distribution location and show their confirmation email and are then given their computer. Please be sure to bring the original email with PDF attachment to the pickup location. (You will receive this after registration by following the above steps) Please stay in your car if you drive to the site.
-
A follow-up text message is sent to recipients with information on connectivity and tech support.
The computer is free and yours forever. If your computer is asking for a password at login, the password is “password.”
This opportunity includes no-cost tech support as well.
