Meet the Teacher/Un Poco Sobre Mi

Hola,

Mi nombre es Martha L. Lopez, y estoy muy contenta de enseñar ciencias de sexto, séptimo y octavo. He sido maestra de la escuela Volta desde hace diez años, y estoy esperando siempre con entusiasmo  las experiencias nuevas   que traen cada año escolar.

Yo nací y me crié en Colombia. Estudié en la Northeastern Illinois University y University of Chicago, e hice un postgrado en la University of Illinois.

Me encanta enseñar matemáticas y ciencias ya que las veo como dos materias muy divertidas. 

Creo  que todos somos inteligentes y capaces de aprender lo que nos enseñan. Cada individuo aprende a su propio ritmo. Solamente debemos esforzarnos y poner de nuestra parte para poder lograr nuestras metas. También, se que lo que no aprendemos hoy, lo aprendemos más adelante con esfuerzo y práctica.

En mi tiempo libre disfruto  viajar, hacer ejercicios, leer novelas/obras/poesía,  en inglés y español, y me encanta todo lo que tenga que ver con  la repostería.

My name is Martha L. Lopez, and I am excited to be teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade science. I have been a teacher at Volta School for ten years, and I am always looking forward to the new experiences that each school year brings.

I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia. I studied at Northeastern Illinois University and the University of Chicago, and did  a masters  at the University of Illinois.

I love teaching math and science as I see them as two very fun subjects.

I believe that we are all intelligent and capable of learning what we are taught. Each individual learns at their own pace. We just have to make an effort and do our part to achieve our goals. Also, I know that what we do not learn today, we will learn later with effort and practice.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, exercising, reading novels/plays/poetry , both  in English and Spanish,, and I love anything that has to do with baking.
