Rose Wambugu (LBS1)

My name is Rose Wambugu. An LBS1 teacher (PK-21). I have been teaching at Volta for 9 years and 14 years at CPS. I graduated from Northeastern Illinois university with MA in LBS1 and MA in Teaching English as a second language (TESL). I also have middle school Math Endorsement (5-8) from University of Chicago. Before coming to the United States, I taught Special Education for 18 years abroad. Teaching Special Education to me is not just a career but a passion. I believe "Disability is not inability. " Learn to see the ability in an individual rather than the disability. "We rise to great heights by a winding staircase of small steps" -Francis Bacon. This quote inspires me to encourage my students to make those small steps to get there.
I love travelling, cooking, going to church and hanging out with friends who help me grow. I speak more than 3 languages and therefore love the diversity at Volta.
