Bio

My name is Katie Styzek, and I am entering my 10th year at Volta as the school counselor. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I served as a middle school teacher in CPS. I look forward to supporting the Volta Community each year!

Volta School Counseling Vision

The vision of the Volta Elementary School Comprehensive Counseling Program is that all students learn the academic, social emotional and post secondary skills to become lifelong leaders in service and the global workforce. Volta Elementary School students appreciate diversity, and use empathy and problem solving skills in their daily lives as students and citizens of the world.  Volta Elementary Students demonstrate critical thinking, grit, and resilience that prepares them for post-secondary success and to become productive global citizens.

Volta School Counseling Mission

Alessandro Volta Elementary’s Counseling Mission is to provide academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary supports to students and families that work in the service of preparing our students for college, careers, and the global workforce. The program seeks to create linkages to the community, and foster the development of our students into responsible community leaders. In alignment with the district and state mission, the Volta School Counseling Department serves as advocates for equity, access and the success of every student. The counseling program capitalizes on the strengths and talents of Volta's diversity to instill shared community values in our students, and provide every student with the long-range skills and motivation to pursue their goals and contribute to the world.
